Welcome!

Under the direction and choreography of Patti Harsch, Benat Serat is a belly dance group who has danced together throughout San Luis Obispo County for the past ten years at parades, farmer's markets, festivals, and holiday functions. Troupe Benat Serat's name means "a group of pretty girls." The troupe is available for performances and community events.

** Special note:  We were very sorry to hear about the recent death of our friend, Stan Thompson, whose photos are featured throughout this site.  Stan was always very supportive of our art and was a tremendous asset to this community.  We will miss him greatly.

Patti - Om Sadig

Patti's dance name means Mother Friend. She has been dancing, drumming, and choreographing for over 30 years. For the past ten years, Patti has been the Director and creative visionary for Troupe Benat Serat. Patty welcomes women of all ages and abilities to her classes, held Tuesday & Thursday nights at the Morro Bay Community Center. Patti's lessons include fundamentals, choreography, costume design, zills, drums, and performance opportunities. She has taught thousands of women the art of belly dance and has been both a mother and friend to us all.

Our Dancers, Their Names and What They Mean

Each dancer earns her unique dance name from Patti when she joins the troupe. This is a meaningful name, carefully chosen, by which each dancer will be known as long as she dances.
