Dance Venues
We have been dancing all over San Luis Obispo
County for the last ten years. Here are some of the settings
with descriptions and photos. Check the calendar and come and
see us!
Morro Bay Chessboard Embarcadero
This is one of our favorite venues. In a small
park across from the waterfront, the City of Morro
Bay has a giant chessboard laid out in concrete
blocks. The public can rent the space on which to
play chess (with life-sized pieces), or in our case,
perform. Crowds gather at the benches and picnic
tables or on the lawn to enjoy our 40 minute free
performance two Sundays a month April through
October at 1:00.

Tribal Fusion Faire
Troupe Benat Serat has
performed at this annual San Luis Obispo Event
since its inception. It is a great gathering of
dance talent in the way of workshops and
performances. Count on many vendors for
accessories, costumes, instruments, and music
resources, not to mention great food. We enjoy
helping to build the dance community by
participating fully.

Parades
Patti’s dance troupe looks
forward to local traditions in the county,
including several parades. We celebrate Morro
Bay in a parade that has been rained out so many
times in March that the new date is now in
April. We love the Christmas Parade in San Luis
Obispo the first Friday evening in December
where we really put on the tinsel, wearing our
most vivid holiday colors. If you want to
attend a good old-fashioned family parade, come
to Cayucos on the Fourth of July to enjoy
celebrating small beach-town America. We do our
troupe shimmy all the way down Ocean Boulevard
amongst the surfers, floats, and baton
twirlers. It is too much fun!

Festivals
One of our favorite dance
opportunities is the Strawberry Festival held
every Memorial Weekend in Arroyo Grande. For
us, it is two days of dancing, bonding, and
shopping. People know we will be at the same
grassy corner year after year, and look for our
tent draped with exotic fabrics, and parasols
dripping with jewels. With three performances
each day, we work hard then take breaks
picnicking in the shady oasis we have created.
There is always complimentary strawberry
shortcake waiting for us for an extra burst of
energy!

Caravan
Months of practice, planning, and preparation go
into our annual showcase performance. We have
hosted this event for almost a decade now. We
typically debut not only a new dance (this year
it was swords), but a new costume as well. Our
audience continues to grow, as do the props and
decorations that transform the same room in
which we work out each week. The show lasts
about two hours, which includes an intermission
in which we invite our guests to enjoy baked
goods and punch. We donate a portion of the
proceeds from this evening to Morro Bay Parks
and Recreation Youth Scholarship Fund. Join us in June for a
celebration of life!
